Midwest Roundup - Week 3

Men

The biggest surprise of the week came when Ohio Wesleyan (5-2-1) dropped back-to-back games, first to Ohio Northern and then to Thomas More. Kenyon (6-0-0) has remained perfect with a 2-0 win against Centre. Wabash (8-0-0) beat Hanover and Mt. St. Joseph to keep their winning streak alive. This is the best start to a season in their program history. Denison (6-0-0) has not lost either, beating Muskingum and Capital by 2-1 scorelines. DePauw (5-0-1) looks sharp early in the season and earned an impressive 2-0 win over Loras this week.

Player of the Week: D - Spase Dorsuleski (So.) - Wabash

Women

Denison (7-0-0) earned a big win over Centre in addition to beating Ohio Northern this week. The Big Red look poised for a great season. Meanwhile, Wooster (5-2-1) and Oberlin (4-2-1) continue to impress in the early part of the year. Wooster beat Washington & Jefferson but lost to Wilmington, while Oberlin won a pair of 2-1 decisions over Marietta and Heidelberg.

Men

Birmingham-Southern (7-0-1) picked up wins against Covenant, Anderson and Brooklyn to remain undefeated and hold the best record with conference play set to start this weekend. The Panthers are receiving votes in this week’s Top 25 poll. Millsaps (5-1-0) has the second best out-of-conference record after beating Covenant 3-0 this past week.Oglethorpe (5-2-1) had an impressive week with wins against Brooklyn and Anderson. Rhodes (3-2-1) has the only other winning record.

Defensive Player of the Week: GK - Vaughn Moore (Sr.) - Oglethorpe

Women

Despite their first loss of the year to Denison, Centre (7-1-0) looks to be the team to beat. The Colonels took down Mt. St. Joseph after their loss to the Big Red. Hendrix (5-2-1) has had a solid start to the season and this week beat Fontbonne and tied Hendrix. Rhodes (4-2-1) tied Transylvania and beat Ohio Wesleyan to continue their strong form. Berry (3-2-1) took a tough 3-1 loss to Emory this week.

Men

Westminster (Mo.) (6-1-0) beat Central, Simpson, and Augustana all by one-goal margins and have now won six straight games after dropping their season opener. The Blue Jays look poised for another run at a conference champions and their third straight NCAA appearance. Eureka (3-1-0) dropped their first game of the season this week to Manchester. Spalding (3-4-0) sits with the third best record in the conference despite losses to Hanover and Elmhurst this past week. Greenville (3-6-0) earned a solid wins over Rhodes and Hendrix this past week.

Defensive Player of the Week: GK - Ian Hodge (Fr.) - Greenville

Women

Spalding (3-2-1) remains the only team with a record above .500. The Golden Eagles tied Mt. St. Joseph in their only contest this past week. Preseason favorite Webster (3-3-0) got some momentum going with a convincing 3-2 win at North Central. MacMurray (3-3-0) and Blackburn (3-4-0) sit with the third and fourth best records.
