Midwest Roundup - Week 8

Week eight was crucial for many teams across the region. Many teams continued their winning ways while some picked up massive results in conference play to help bolster their postseason hopes. Conference play is quickly heating up across the region with important matches every week.

ILLINOIS

Illinois Wesleyan (7-7-0 / 3-2-0) notched two big CCIW conference wins last week after taking down Augustana 4-1 and Carthage 3-0.The two wins put the Titans back in the win column in conference play, which sets them up to carry a lot of momentum into their single match this weekend. Coach Schauls will travel to Carroll on Saturday for a very important CCIW match.

OHIO

Oberlin (6-8-0 / 3-2-0) extended their winning streak to three games last week after defeating Allegheny and Hiram in NCAC play. Coach New and his side have some great momentum heading into two very important NCAC matches this week against Denison and Wooster. The Yeomen are now on the back end of their conference schedule and aiming to finish strong.

KENTUCKY

Centre (12-3-1 / 5-1-0) extended their winning streak to six games after defeating Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps in SAA conference play. Both victories came on the road for the Colonels. During the winning streak, Centre has outscored their opponents 18-3. Coach Burch and his team will host their final SAA conference game of the year on Saturday against Sewanee before heading into postseason play.

 

INDIANA

Hanover (7-5-1 / 4-1-0) are riding a four-game winning streak in Heartland conference play. The Panthers took down Rose-Hulman and Bluffton last week. Coach Wilkerson and his team will aim to continue their strong overall play as they host two more conference foes this week, Transylvania and Anderson. Hanover has outscored their opponents 14-4 during the span on their winning streak.

IOWA

Loras (12-4-1 / 4-2-0) added two American Rivers conference wins to their resume over the weekend after defeating Wartburg 2-1 and Simpson 4-0. The Duhawks extended their winning streak to three games. Coach Rothert and his team will have the opportunity to pick up two more results this week against Dubuque at home and then traveling to Nebraska Wesleyan to conclude their conference season.

MICHIGAN

Kalamazoo (8-2-2 / 2-1-1) picked up two massive conference wins last week. The Hornets took down Trine 1-0 and then capped off the week on Homecoming by defeating Alma 3-1. Coach Shabazz and his side will have a full week to prepare to host a strong Calvin side, but will have some solid momentum heading into the match on the weekend.
