MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- The Macalester College men's soccer team lost their first conference game tonight to Augsburg University in overtime 1-0.

Macalester started the game on the offensive with a shot by junior Nick Moore (Georgetown, Mass./St. Mark's School) in the sixth minute that forced an Augsburg save. Sophomore Floyd Krom (Naaldwijk, Netherlands/UWC- Costa Rica) followed up with another shot just a minute later which was also saved. The Scots totaled 12 shots in the first half but could not finish any, seeing the game into half at 0-0.

The second half saw much of the same as the first with the Scots out shooting the Auggies 6-2. The Scots surged forward with four minutes left in regular time with two shots and four corner kicks. But each team kept clean sheets in regular time and the game went into overtime,.

Then with just two minutes past in overtime Augsburg scored from a break away down the right side of Macalester's half. The Scots lost 1-0 and are now third in the MIAC.

Macalester returns to play at home on Saturday, Oct. 13, against at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn. at 5:00 p.m.
