Abbott’s two goals lift men’s soccer team past Mount St. Joseph, 2-1
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Freshman Braden Abbott scored twice to lead the Olivet College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University this afternoon on Schueler Field and inside the Mount Sports Complex in Cincinnati, Ohio.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Freshman Braden Abbott scored twice to lead the Olivet College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University this afternoon on Schueler Field and inside the Mount Sports Complex in Cincinnati, Ohio.

- The Comets led 1-0 at halftime behind a goal by Abbott in the 19th minute. After receiving a pass from freshman Nick Cody, Abbott headed the ball into left side of the net from around seven yards out.
- Olivet extended its lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute. Abbott worked his way thru three Lion defenders to send a low shot past a diving goalkeeper.
- Mount St. Joseph scored its goal in the 84th minute. The goal was a penalty kick after a Comet was called for a handball in the box.
- The Lions had a couple great chances to score the equalizer in the final five minutes of the game.
- Olivet finished the game with a 15-10 advantage in total shots, with a 9-2 edge in shots-on-goal.
- Both of Abbott's shots went into the goal.
- Freshman Nick Cody tallied six shots, placing half on-frame.
- Freshman Aidan Reynolds recorded three shots.
- Seniors Kjeil Dickinson and Noah Runnals also tallied two shots apiece.
- In goal, junior Carlos Santos earned the win.

- Willis Johnson scored the lone Mount St. Joseph goal.
- Michael Abel registered three shots.
- Gustavo Gutierrez was in net for the first half and had one save.
- Matthew Hibbard collected six saves in goal during the second half.
- The Comets have their final regular season, non-conference game Friday when they travel to play at Great Lakes Christian College at 3:30 p.m.
