ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 on the season Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 win over Hanover (Ind.) at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears got goals from sophomore Alyssa Beckett (Monroe), junior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.) and freshman Lindsey Pawlawski (Baden, Pa./North Catholic) in the game.
Junior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) and sophomores Libby Johnson (Fairfield) and Emma Bowman (Novi, Mich./Northville) each recorded an assist for ONU.
The Panthers (1-1-0 overall) scored both of their goals in the first half, coming from sophomores Nora Ludwig and Beth Cook.
Beckett put the Polar Bears up 1-0 with a goal in the 13th minute on an assist from Roberts, giving her three goals on the season.
Hanover knotted the score at 1-all in the 23rd minute on Ludwig's goal, and the Panthers proceeded to take a 2-1 lead thanks to Cook in the 37th minute.
Northern responded with a goal from Cabana on an assist from Johnson with less than a minute before halftime to tie the score at 2-2.
The Polar Bears secured the victory thanks to Pawlawski's first career goal, which came in the 63rd minute on an assist from Bowman.
Senior Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) made one save in goal and improved to 2-0-0 for ONU.
Northern out-shot Hanover 11-6 and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, to face Pacific Lutheran (Wash.) and Wheaton (Ill.) in the Wheaton Invitational.
