Women’s Soccer records 2-2 draw at Capital

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw at Capital on Saturday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium.

The Polar Bears (6-1-4 overall, 1-0-2 OAC) recorded their second straight draw and extended their current unbeaten streak to five games.

Sophomore Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) and junior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) scored one goal apiece for Northern.

The Comets (6-2-2 overall, 2-0-1 OAC) got goals from Grace Estes and Sophia Leonetti.

Capital took an early 1-0 lead, as Estes scored in the 13th minute on an assist from Nicole Ogden.

Beckett tied the score at 1-all in the 22nd minute, scoring on an assist from sophomore Alexa Clampitt (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica Academy for International Studies) for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

But the Comets entered halftime up 2-1 courtesy of Leonetti's goal in the 36th minute.

Trailing 2-1 late in the game, Northern found the equalizer courtesy of Roberts, who found the back of the net in the 87th minute for a goal assisted by Clampitt.

Senior Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) recorded seven saves in goal for ONU.

Capital goalkeeper Lauren White posted six saves.

Northern out-shot Capital 14-11 in the game and finished with a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday at Heidelberg at 4 p.m.
