ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team squared off with ODAC contender Virginia Wesleyan for their second straight road conference tilt on Wednesday night. Both goalkeepers battled it out as the game ended in a draw after 90 minutes.

How it Happened

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Adam Braithwaite (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) stole the show in the first half with four saves, keeping the score knotted at zero behind a strong back line.
  • The two teams combined for six shots on goal in the first half, but the score remained at zero per side through 45 minutes.
  • VWU took advantage in the 65th minute, grabbing the lead shortly after a Marlins corner kick.
  • With less than 10 minutes remaining, junior forward Chazz Jones (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic Academy) nailed the equalizer, which was the final tally, earning the Yellow Jackets a point in conference play.
  • R-MC had a few chances in the closing minutes but couldn't grab the lead as the Marlins defense held on.

Inside the Numbers

  • Braithwaite led the efforts with his first double-digit save performance of his career, registering 10 in the contest and six in the second half alone.
  • Jones' goal was the second of the season for the junior. It was his first goal since his tally in a 4-1 win on Sept. 3 against Southern Virginia.
  • Senior midfielder Bogue Cummings (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) registered an assist on Chazz Jones' goal, marking his first assist of the season.
  • The Yellow Jackets had 17 shots on goal, which is their highest mark in conference play this season.
