GREENSBORO, N.C. – Olivia Owens finds the net twice as Randolph Macon Women's Soccer cruises past a Greensboro, 3-0, on the road Saturday afternoon. Riley Russ' second-half goal gave the Yellow Jackets the insurance needed to see the three points out for yet another road victory.
The Basics:
Score: Randolph-Macon 3, Greensboro 0
Location/Venue: Greensboro, N.C./Pride Field
Records: R-MC 4-1-1, Greensboro 0-4-1
How it Happened:
- Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) broke the 0-0 tie in the 12th-minute with an unassisted goal.
- Owens again found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the closing stanza, as a beautiful ball from Leah Conrad (Bristow, Va./Saint John Paul The Great) set the finish up.
- Riley Russ (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) added the insurance goal for Randolph-Macon in the 61st-minute, calling her own number on the unassisted finish to help see the three points out.
- Freshman Erin Morris (Manchester, N.H./Bishop Guertin) got the win in the net, as she made her first career start for the Yellow Jackets.
By The Numbers:
- Randolph-Macon's three goals ties the highest offensive output in six games this season, as the Yellow Jackets found three goals against Salisbury as well.
- Owens' two goals makes the second time this season the forward has scored two goals in a match. Russ' goal in the fixture matches the goal she had in the previous match that Owens found the back of the net twice.
- Conrad's assist in the match marks her fourth of the young season as the winger's four make up all of R-MC's assists.
Up Next:
- Randolph-Macon will be back on the road Wednesday, September 21, as they head to Virginia Beach to take on defending National Champions Christopher Newport. The action is set for 7:00 p.m at CNU Soccer Stadium.
