The College of Wooster men's soccer team celebrated senior day and wrapped up its season with a 0-0 tie against Denison University on Saturday.
Entering the day, Wooster had an outside shot of making the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. Unfortunately, their fate was sealed shortly before the game started as Wabash College earned a point in a tie of Oberlin College to secure the fourth seed.
Yet, Wooster still had plenty to do Saturday by honoring their 12 seniors. Denison, meanwhile, had locked up the third seed in the tournament.
On Saturday, the two teams were almost identical. Wooster outshot the Big Red 20-17, both teams took five corner kicks and both goalkeepers made six saves.
Wooster's best opportunity to score came in the 53rd minute when Max Hill was fouled in the penalty box to be awarded a penalty kick. However, Denison keeper Dylan Brown guessed correctly on Hill's shot and made the save.
Denison's best chance came in the second overtime when the Scots made a team save in the 105th minute. Wooster then survived the ensuing corner kick to keep the game scoreless.
Senior Hamilton Schattgen made six saves in goal in the decision. Hill ended with six shots and three shots on goal for team highs.
Denison moved to 10-4-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the NCAC. Wooster finishes the year 9-7-2 and 3-4-2 in the NCAC, tied for sixth.
