TIFFIN — Junior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) scored just 13:30 into the contest and the Ohio Northern defense took over from there in a 1-0 Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer victory at Heidelberg on Wednesday afternoon at Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.

Roberts' goal came off an assist from sophomore Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) and gave the Polar Bears (7-1-4 overall, 2-0-2 OAC) a quick 1-0 lead.

ONU held a 14-1 advantage in shots in the first half and kept the Student Princes (5-5-2, 1-3-0) at bay the remainder of the contest.

Ohio Northern out-shot Heidelberg 18-4, including a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Senior Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) stopped HU's lone shot on goal to record her seventh shutout of the season.

The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday with a 1 pm home contest against John Carroll at Kerscher Stadium.
