Women’s Soccer Edged at Mitchell, 2-1

NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team dropped a narrow 2-1 decision at Mitchell Tuesday afternoon.

THE BASICS:

Records: Lions (2-10-1, 0-2-1 NECC) | Mariners (5-6-2, 1-1-1 NECC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Mitchell captured a 1-0 edge in the 28th minute as Madison Nicynski lasered a direct free-kick into the back of the net for her second tally of the season.
• The Mariners extended their advantage to 2-0 with a strike in the 34th minute. Lauren Cordero knocked in her first collegiate goal after Francesca Zamarripa's initial attempt careened off the post.
• Eastern Nazarene trimmed the deficit to 2-1 in the 63rd minute as Jordan Lee (Hampden, Mass.) notched her third marker of the fall.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Netminder Jasmine Arzu (Bronx, N.Y) posted seven saves in her 13th start of the campaign.
• Eastern Nazarene generated 19 shots in the match while Mitchell attempted 18 shots.
• The Mariners finished the contest with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
