Blazers Draw Against Suffolk Rams in Home Opener
CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Blazers began their season with a home opener that ended in a draw against Suffolk University Rams. Both teams battled hard for 90 minutes. Blazers goalkeeper, junior Angela Picheo (Wood-Ridge, NJ) ended the game with nine (9) saves, and Rams goalkeeper first year ended with four (4).

How it happened:
The Blazers started off the game with hunger to score. Just one minute and ten seconds into the game senior forward, Elaina Vilar (Watertown, CT) had a shot from outside the box that hit the crossbar. The Rams were quick with a response, and just four minutes into the game had a shot on goal by junior forward Klaudia Rushi (Beverly, MA) which was saved by junior goalie Picheo. Both teams played very physically on their attacking ends. At the twenty fourth minute Rams sophomore midfielder, Chelsea Fallon (Saint Johns, FL) drilled the ball from behind the attacking twenty five (25) yard line to hit the crossbar with a save by Blazers Goalie Picheo. Blazers and Rams head into the second half tied 0-0.

The second half started with a corner kick by Rams first year midfielder Molly Knight (Pittsfield, MA) at the forty ninth minute, which was quickly cleared out by Blazers defense. There was a little back and forth in the midfield till Blazers pushed the ball up toward their attacking twenty five (25). With a quick shot on goal by Blazers first year forward Jamie McDonough (Dedham, MA) with a save by Rams first year goalie, Sophia Barker (Old Saybrook, CT). Blazers came right back after the save with a shot that went wide by forward Vilar. Blazers goalie Picheo ended the last ten minutes with five (5) saves, to hold the Rams to zero to end the contest in a draw, 0-0.
