Bears Fall at #14 Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Four different players scored leading No. 14 Wesleyan to a 4-0 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.

The Cardinals improve to 4-0 on the season while the Bears dropped their third straight and are now 2-5 overall.

Wesleyan has yet to allow a goal all season and has outscored its opponents 14-0 in the four wins.

The Cardinals got goals from Grace Devanny in the 10th minute, Kate Hausladen in the 28th minute and Ally Stanton in the 38th minute for a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Gianna Argento's goal in the 55th minute would close the scoring.

Wesleyan outshot the Bears 24-4.

Sarah Schollenberger (0-1) allowed three goals in the first half to take the loss while Emily Scharnitzky made her collegiate debut in the second half and allowed one goal while making four saves.

Sarah Hammond had one save in the first half to pickup the win for Wesleyan while Erin Dailey also had one save in the second half for the Cardinals.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday when they play at Babson in a NEWMAC game at 1:00.
