The men's soccer team lost their season and home opener to the Blue Devils from SUNY Fredonia, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island.
Jackson Retzer scored the only goal on a sunny and very warm afternoon in the 53rd minute on a header off a cross by Matt Cullen.
The Bearcats battled hard to get the tying goal and attempted a series of shots in the final minutes, but could not breach Fredonia's defense in suffering the tough loss.
The visitors out-shot the Bearcats (17-8), forcing Kellen Sela into making six saves.
Ricardo Llanos and Adonis Martinez led the team with two shots each.
The Bearcats will continue their schedule on Wednesday, September 4, with a 5:00 p.m. non-conference home contest against St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn at Randall's Island Field #73.
