Duane is a retired combat veteran, retiring as a US Army First Sergeant, having served over twenty years on the Army Bomb Squad with multiple deployments to places like Afghanistan and Iraq. Upon retirement, he returned to college and received his BS in teaching at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA, and taught English, Math, and Special Education for seven years. He left teaching to return to the security field, currently serving as a Security Supervisor in Hershey, PA.
He was a soccer coach and referee at the youth and teen level, quickly realizing his childrens’ soccer talents outpaced his limited coaching knowledge. Duane and his wife Terri have four children and a grandchild. Duane has ties to Messiah College, where his daughter Delaney (DJ) was a standout player from 2015-2018, winning several All-American and Player of the Year accolades while playing for Coach Scott Frey.
Duane joined the D3Soccer.com staff in the summer of 2018, helping to bolster coverage on the women’s side, and has been writing the Mid-Atlantic Review and South Atlantic Week in Review weekly columns for the past two seasons. He has also penned several of the NCAA Sectional and Semi Final Previews on the women’s side, and has contributed to the Women’s National Semi Finals and Finals coverage for the past two seasons.
