Midwest News & Roundup - Week 10
By BJ Pheasant
Welcome to the Midwest News & Review. I will highlight women's NCAA D3 soccer games in the Midwest area. National importance will be followed by regional importance and towards the end of the season conference considerations will crop up. Time is limited so I exercise judgement on notable games to report each week. My editors make me look good; thank you.
Week 10 Notes
This is the final regular season column from 2019 - now D3soccer.com coverage will move to Tournament Central (link).
Women's soccer is the toughest bid of any NCAA tournament. 43 out of 64 berths are Automatic Qualifiers, which leaves 21 At-Large bids from more than 400 remaining teams.
NORTH REGION
#1 (RV nationally) St. Thomas (14-2-2 / 9-1-1)
The Tommies have seven wins in a row going in the MIAC tournament. The last four have been 1-0 margins. Is it enough to gain the coveted AQ?
#2 (RV nationally) Wartburg (12-2-3 / 6-1-1)
The Knights won five in a row, including over Loras, but are a half game back going into the ARC tournament; hold the #2 seed and probably need to beat Loras again to earn the AQ.
#3 Augsburg (13-3-1 / 9-1-1)
The Auggies are tied with St Thomas atop the MIAC and have the head-to-head victory going into the tournament.
#4 UW-La Crosse (11-6-2 / 4-2-1)
