Jim is a Union College graduate (1968, BS, Electrical Engineering) and earned an MBA from Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College (1971). He retired in 2012 from Brown-Forman Corp. (think Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey) after thirty plus years in senior management positions in Information Technology, Finance and Supply Chain.
He and his wife Jenny reside in Louisville, KY. They have a son, James, and a daughter Chloe. James played through high school but hung up his boots at that point. Chloe is a graduate of Hanover College, where she played for Coach Jim Watts and as a senior on the Panthers was a key contributor to the most successful squad in the program's 25-year history. Jim ran track and cross-country for the Dutchmen and in 2017 returned to his 400-meter roots, now competing in the National Senior Games. He proudly and shamelessly brags on his sixth place finish at the 2019 championships. When not injured, he is training for the next nationals in Fort Lauderdale, FL in May 2022.
Jim joined the D3soccer.com staff mid-way through the 2015 season assisting in the “back room” and writing content occasionally. He has increasingly assumed additional responsibilities as Chris Shirk transitioned to his current role as “Special Consultant and Advisor.” Jim officially assumed the title and responsibilities of “Managing Editor” in the summer of 2018. In early 2022, Jim "retired" and now assists as available.
