No. 3 Wheaton (IL), No. 9 Ithaca remain undefeated

Senior Julie Winn scored twice for the Bombers in their win on Saturday Ithaca athletics

The 9th-ranked Ithaca College women's soccer team mainitained its perfect record at 6-0, blanking visiting Potsdam 5-0 Saturday at Carp Wood Field. Senior Julie Winn scored two goals and added an assist.

Meanwhile, the 3rd-ranked Thunder improved to 6-0 with their shutout of No. 8 Washington University. Junior Leah DeMoss had two goals in the match.

Bomber Julie Winn posted her fifth career multi-goal game and matched a career high with her five-point total. She assisted on the game's opening score, a goal by senior Rachael Palladino in the 17th minute. Palladino raised her career totals to 53 goals and 126 points; Chelsey Feldman (like Palladino, a two-time all-American) holds both Bomber records with 63 and 148, respectively.

Winn scored her first goal of the season in the 29th minute then converted a penalty kick 15 minutes into the second half. She raised her career total to 55 points; she's 12th all-time on Ithaca's scoring list and 10 points from the top 10.

Freshmen Kelsey King and Angelica Romeu closed out the scoring; both recorded their first career goals.

Ithaca outshot the Bears 42-3 in posting a shutout for the fourth time in six outings this fall. Senior Becca Salant, junior Becca Lewis and freshman Beth Coppolecchia all saw time in net for the second game in a row.

In the Wheaton match, the Thunder broke open a one-goal game at halftime with three second-half goals en route to a 4-0 victory over Washington University in St. Louis women’s soccer team on Saturday afternoon in Wheaton, Ill.

The loss for Washington U. was its first of the season and dropped its overall record to 4-1. Wheaton improves to 6-0 and extends its home unbeaten streak at home to 39 games dating back to the 2009 season.
Wheaton’s Ally Witt gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute when she collected a rebound to net her third goal of the year.Wheaton held a 12-1 advantage in shots in the first half, including a 7-1 edge in shots on goal. Anna Seabolt made it 2-0 with a goal just inside the 18-yard box just three minutes into the second half. Leah DeMoss added a pair of second-halfgoals to round out the scoring for the Thunder.
Washington U. senior goalkeeper Clara Jaques made seven saves and allowed three goals in 66 minutes played. Wheaton outshot Washington U. 20-9 and held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
