Dear Soccer
As a parent of daughter who started her soccer career playing "hive ball" as a three-year-old and completed her competitive playing days nearly twenty years later at the Brazilian Naval Station in Rio de Janeiro for a D-III college all-star team against the Botafogo women’s side, I have been a huge proponent of competitive athletics in general, and soccer in particular: especially for young women.
In her letter, Dear Soccer, Jessica Matsuoka, a 2021 graduate of Smith College, Northampton, MA, brought back many memories and importantly highlights many of the traits and habits she developed as a result of her love for the beautiful game.
I spotted this the other day on Smith's athletics pages and wanted to share it; I hope you enjoy it.
