Upcoming Top Matches - Week3
Each Monday during the season we plan to highlight matches in the upcoming week (Monday through Sunday, between the teams believed to be stronger sides in Division III soccer. We will use Massey Ratings to identify these teams. There are two sections below:
- Matches where both sides are ranked in the top 25.
- Contests between teams ranked 1 through 75.
- Ratings are from Monday, September 13; using results through Sunday, September 12.
As you would expect, this early in the season, team rankings, whether opinion poll or statistically generated, are driven mostly by results from prior year(s). However, most teams have now completed 15% to 25% of their regular season schedules (exceptions are the NESCAC and those with schedules impacted by Covid protocols or Hurricane IDA) so day to day fluctuations in rankings will begin to stablize reflecting relative strength of 2021 sides as the Massey Ratings system "learns" from this season's results.
