O'Brien's Goal Sends HSU To The Postseason
ABILENE, Texas — Senior Chris O'Brien scored a goal in the 66th minute to propel the Hardin-Simmons men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over LeTourneau and send the Cowboys back to the American Southwest Conference Tournament where they will look to defend their championship from a year ago.
The two teams played an evenly contested game with HSU having a slim 10-9 advantage on shots. Both teams had just two shots on goal in the game.
O'Brien headed home the goal off a Tyler Murray corner kick to give the Cowboys the win.
Logan Waters worked the shutout in goal for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys won four of their last five games to clinch a spot in the tournament. The seeds and pairings will be announced on Sunday. HSU finished the regular season with a record of 11-5 and finished league play at 9-4. LeTourneau finished the year with a record of 10-8 overall and 7-5 in ASC action.
