Devils Top Dutchmen 2-0 in Third Straight Shutout

(Annville, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's soccer team posted its third straight shutout of the season with a 2-0 win at Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Red Devils put a goal on the board shortly after halftime when sophomore Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, Pa./Timber Creek Regional) scored off an assist from first-year Jamie Martin (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) just 2:17 into the second half.

 

First-year Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School) tallied his second goal of the season in the 51st minute, breaking though the defense, scoring unassisted.

 

Sophomore Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) was forced to make just one save in 77 minutes of action as the Devil defense held the Dutchmen to just four shots in each half. Classmate Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) came on to secure the shutout in the final 12:47.

 

The Devils outshot LVC 20-8 on the day and held an 8-3 advantage in corners.

 

The Red Devils (2-0-1) travel to Wilkes College on Tuesday for a 7:00 start. They return for their home opener against Penn State Abington on Thursday night, also kicking-off at 7:00 pm.
