Kachadurian Nets Three as Devils Post Fifth Shutout
(Carlisle, PA) - Dickinson College men's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 win in their home opener against Penn State Abington Tuesday evening.
It was a stellar performance by the first-year players as they scored three of the six goals on the night.
The Red Devils took control early in the game, keeping a tight handle on the ball. The first goal came at 14:44, scored by senior Dale Rodman (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) off of an assist by first year Chris Shultz (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West). A second goal followed shortly thereafter at 16:59. The unassisted goal was scored by first year Jamie Martin (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) to put the Devils in front 2-0.
The final goal of the first half was scored with just over three minutes remaining by first year Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) with an assist from classmate Sung Woo Kim (Seoul, Korea/Fryeburg Academy, Maine).
The second half repeated a similar pattern. Penn State was able to battle back somewhat, taking their only shots on goal, but all three were denied by sophomore goalkeeper Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman).
The three goals scored in the second half by the Red Devils all came within a span of 4:18. The first was a quick shot at 81:21 by junior Ben Gemberling-Johnson (Wyndmoor, Pa./Germantown Friends) off of a pass from Kachadurian, who then tallied the final two goals in a span of 39 seconds.
The first came at 82:00 as Rodman fed a beautiful lead pass to Kim, who crossed the ball to a waiting Kachadurian. Kachadurian then closed out the scoring with his third of the night, 39 seconds later, off of another great assist from Rodman.
Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) shared the shutout, facing no shots in the first half. Hall finished with three saves as the Devils have yet to allow a goal this season.
With tonight's win, the Red Devils post their fifth straight shutout, improving to 4-0-1 on the year. They are home again on Saturday afternoon at 3:30, hosting Washington College in the Centennial Conference opener.
