Mena Scores in Third Straight, Devils Shutout Wilkes 3-0
(Edwardsville, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's soccer team improved to 3-0-1 on the season with a 3-0 win at Wilkes University on Tuesday night. The Red Devils also posted their fourth straight shutout to start the season.
First-year Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/The American School of El Salvador) scored for the third straight game, netting the game-winner 7:25 into the contest. Ben Gemberling-Johnson (Wyndmoor, Pa./Germantown Friends) tallied the assist.
Sophomore Shepherd Waldenberger (Madison, Va./Madison County) scored in the 70th minute and assisted Sung Woo Kim (Seoul, Korea/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) at the 79:15 mark to close out the scoring.
Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made three saves in 74 minutes and Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) came on to share the shutout.
The Devils held a 32-7 advantage in shots and forced 10 corners while surrendering just one on the night.
The Red Devils are home on Thursday night, hosting Penn State Abington at 7:00 pm.
