Red Devil Men Roll Past McDaniel 5-1
(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson College men's soccer team erupted for four goals in the second half en route to a 5- 1 win at McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon. The Red Devils stay in the Centennial Conference playoff hunt as they improve to 10-3-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the CC.
Junior Taylor Ferry (Wyndmoor, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) put the Devils on the board with the lone goal in the first half. He scored on a restart in the 21st minute with a shot to the upper right corner of the net.
First-year Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School of El Salvador) finished a rebound with an assist from Dale Rodman (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) in the 62nd minute to give the Devils a 2-0 advantage.
Ferry sent a long ball ahead to classmate Ben Gemberling-Johnson (Wyndmoor, Pa./Germantown Academy) who hit a quick shot past the goalkeeper to stretch the lead to 3-0 with just under 20 minutes remaining in the game. Gemberling-Johnson later returned the favor with an assist to first-year Ron Geedey (Gap, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) for the Devils' final tally of the day.
Senior David Lister (Dallas, Texas./Greenhill) also scored on the day, finishing a beautifully developed play with assists from Sung Woo Kim (Seoul, Korea/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) and Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) at the 76:15 mark.
The Green Terror spoiled the shutout effort with a late goal as Nathan Greenwood put McDaniel on the scoreboard with just 33 seconds to play in the contest.
Sophomore Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) turned away three shots in goal for the Devils while Zach Nibbelink stopped seven shots for McDaniel (5-11, 2-6).
The Red Devils have another key conference match-up on Friday night, closing out the regular season at Franklin & Marshall. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
