Devils Fall at F&M, Await Help for Playoff Bid

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at Franklin & Marshall on Friday night. The setback puts the Red Devils on the bubble for a Centennial Conference playoff berth. The Devils slip to 10-4-3 overall and 4-3-2 in the CC. F&M improves to 9-3-3 and 4-1-3.

 

The Diplomats put a goal on the board 31:55 into the game on a header from Mike Irving. They took a 2-0 advantage into the break as Charlie Welch finished on a corner kick with just 1:55 remaining in the half.

 

F&M added another insurance goal in the 60th minute on a strong build out of the Diplomat defense. Matt Krantz assisted Ben Beaver to close out the scoring and secure the win.

 

The Dickinson defense did hold F&M to just nine shots, including four on goal.  Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made one save. Zach Zamek stopped six shots for F&M while Adrian Heredia added a save as well.

 

The Red Devils need a loss by Gettysburg and a loss or tie by Haverford on Saturday to earn a spot in the conference playoffs.
