JAIME MANJARRES TO BE NJCU MEN’S SOCCER GOALKEEPERS COACH
JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | JAIME MANJARRES, the former head varsity soccer coach at Marist High School, has been hired as an assistant men's soccer coach and goalkeepers coach for the 2011 season at New Jersey City University.
Manjarres spent the last six seasons (2005-10) guiding the Royal Knights at Marist, in Bayonne, NJ. In 2008, he served as an instructor at the Red Bulls Soccer Program. Prior to that, he conducted goalkeeper training at the Tab Ramos Soccer Programs for its spring and summer clinics in 2006 and 2007.
"He brings experience to the program with the training and work he has done," noted third-year head coach Nansha Kalonji. "Coming from Marist and being a head coach, he understands the important of both looking for talent while also developing our goalkeepers. He is fully concentrated on training our keepers, working on the details of the position, while getting them better and more prepared, which is what we need from our keepers."
Since June 2004, he has also served as the goalkeepers coach at the Hans Soliz Soccer School in Jersey City, NJ. There, he was the head coach of the U-14 traveling program in 2004, and guided the program to one championship and one second-place finish. Additionally, the U-14 program reached the semi-finals of the national Coca-Cola tournament in Baltimore, MD and placed second in the Metro Youth Cup in Wayne, NJ.
Manjarres coached U-10 soccer in Jersey City from 1997-2001, mentoring three different teams to league titles, while also coaching the U-10 traveling team.
He currently holds F, E and the USSF National D license and has earned goalkeeper licenses on the state, regional and national level. In February 2006, Manjarres received the NSCAA Professional Development Certificate from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and holds a high school soccer coach diploma.
