GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Adrian College men's soccer team used a pair of late first half goals just 2:23 apart in a 2-1 win at Grove City College on Friday afternoon (Sept. 2). The season opening win came after the Wolverines took a 1-0 lead at 17:07 as Adam Brewer blasted a ball from 20 yards out on the left wing over Adrian freshman James Ruby.

The Bulldogs capitalized twice late in the first half and then played to a second half draw en route to the one-goal victory. Ryan McCarthy got Adrian on the board at 42:21 with an assist from Nick Minshall. A short time later it was Minshall who scored the game-winner unassisted with just 16 seconds left in the opening half.

Ruby had an impressive debut in goal with eight saves as Grove City outshot Adrian, 9-5, for the contest. Ruby had to make a save with 1:40 left but the Wolverines did not record a shot on goal after that point.
