Yellowjackets Win Season Opener

The Yellowjacket men's soccer team got its 2011 season off to a great start, posting a shutout on the road in the opening game of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Nick Osborn (Rosemount, Minn.) made two saves and picked up the shutout as the Yellowjackets downed the Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-0 on the home field of Concordia University in Mequon, Wis.
The Yellowjackets opened the scoring when senior and All-WIAC performer Thomas Shuldheisz (Andover, Minn.) scored just 7:43 into the match on an assist from Logan George (Ramsey, Minn.) to make it 1-0. The lead bulged to 2-0 before the end of the first half as sophomore John Levenick (Champlin, Minn.) took a feed from Bryan McBride (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and directed it home with his head to make it 2-0 in the 42nd minute.
In the second half the Yellowjackets closed out the scoring at 71:19 when sophomore Alberto Rivero (Santander, Spain) scored to make it 3-0. Ben Royce (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had the assist.
The Yellowjackets controlled the play throughout the game, outshooting the Raiders 14-8 in the match.
The Yellowjackets (1-0, 0-0 WIAC) return to the field on Sunday, September 4 when they take on Concordia University Wisconsin. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
