JWU Men's Soccer Blanked By Westfield State, 2-0

Springfield, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales men's soccer fell to Westfield State, 2-0 in the consolation game of the Springfield College Invitational at the Irv Schmid Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Westfield State scored the only goal they would need early in the contest when Josh Severns put in a pass from Justin Laliberte at the 12:23 mark. The Owls then added an insurance goal with an unassisted tally from Jon Principato in the 28th minute. Westfield took the two goal lead into halftime and then held the Wildcats scoreless in the second half for the 2-0 victory. Westfield State had a 25-3 advantage in shots for the game.
Freshman Ryan Dzierawski (Oakland, Mich.) made 16 saves in the loss for JWU while Westfield's Jeff Pepoli made two stop in the win for the Owls.
With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 0-2 while Westfield improves to 1-1 for the year. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, September 7th when they travel to Coast Guard for a non-conference contest with the Bears at 7:00 p.m.
