Westminster (Mo.) Men Run Out Of Last Minute Luck
Fulton, Mo. - In its first two matches of the season, the Westminster College men's soccer squad won in overtime and in the final three seconds of regulation. Monday at home the Blue Jays ran out of late magic and were victimized by a penalty kick in a 1-0 overtime loss to Lindenwood University-Belleville.
After battling through 90 minutes of regulation, Lindenwood-Belleville (2-0-1) got the call in the box and Alex Lopez berried the penalty kick at the 93:15 mark. The loss spoiled a solid effort by a Westminster team (2-1) that out shot its opponent 14-11, recorded nine corner kicks and had a goal called back.
