More news about: Eureka men's team

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Eureka College senior forward Cody Halstead (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods H.S./Illinois Central) hit the back of the net for the second consecutive games, but host Rockford scored a pair of goals midway through the second half to earn a 3-1 non-conference victory over the Red Devils, Saturday afternoon in Rockford, Ill.

Halstead's tally at 48:42 on an assist from sophomore Tom Moody (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) forced a 1-1 tie after Rockford's Matt Nicholson opened the scoring with a 25th minute tally. Nicholson scored for a second time in the 65th minute, breaking the tie and pushing Rockford in front for the remainder of the match. Philip Pressgrove added a 69th minute insurance tally for the Regents.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Mumm (Monticello, Ill./Monticello H.S.) played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Red Devils to become the all-time Eureka leader in goalkeeper minutes played. Mumm has played 1,647 minutes in goal since arriving on campus prior to the 2010 season, passing previous record-holder Justin Horrer, who played 1,575 minutes in goal for the Red Devils in 2008.

The Red Devils will be back in action Wednesday night when they travel west to Iowa for their first-ever meeting with Dubuque. The non-conference kickoff under the lights is scheduled for 7 p.m.
