#10 Statesmen top Medaille 1-0
GENEVA, N.Y.—The No. 10 Hobart soccer team edged visiting Medaille 1-0 in a non-conference game played this afternoon at Cozzens Field. The Statesmen improve to 4-0-0, while the Mavericks fall to 2-2-0.
Senior captain Lukas Petersen broke through for the Statesmen 19 minutes, 9 seconds into the game. Hobart was able to capitalize on its second corner kick of the match. SophomoreKaeghan Kelly took the corner and lofted a pass into the box. Petersen was there to send a header into the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal. It was Petersen's first goal and Kelly's first assist of the season.
The Mavericks best scoring chance came in the 64th minute. Stuart Zieglar was able to fire a short shot on goal in a flurry of action in front of the net. Senior goalie Charlie Hale was able to knock the ball away, stifling Medaille's chance to tie up the game.
