Westminster Men Rally Late, But Settle For 2OT Draw

Conway, Ark. – For the third time this season the Westminster College men's soccer team went into overtime, but for the first time the Blue Jays came away with a tie, fighting Hendrix College to a 2-2 double overtime draw Sunday.

Hendrix (3-0-2) appeared headed for victory in regulation after taking a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, but senior Sean Peterson (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) scored his second goal of the season at 87:01 to pull the Blue Jays even. Westminster (3-1-1) came right back 40 seconds later to grab a 2-1 lead at 87:41 when sophomore Ronald Moore (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic) found the net. But, the match was not over. Hendrix, which out shot Westminster 29-13, got a goal at 89:47 to send the contest into extra frames, during which neither team scored.

Match Notes: This was Westminster's third overtime match in five outings…and the fourth to be decided late (overtime, final three seconds, overtime and overtime)…the Blue Jays are 1-1-1 in overtime this season.
