Golden
Abdullah Alkhayyat (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) scored the golden goal as Maine Maritime Academy knocked off Maine-Presque Isle 2-1 in overtime.
The Mariners (4-0) overcame a 1-0 deficit after the Owls (2-1) ended MMA's season-opening shutout streak as it was approaching 300 minutes. Alkhayyat collected a rebound in the box and banked it in off of the crossbar for the win. Nate Tipton (West Chester, Pa.) converted a serve into the box off of the boot of Benjamin Russell (Farmington, Maine) to force overtime.
MMA returns to action tomorrow at Maine-Fort Kent.
