Mitchell Men's Soccer Sweeps NECC Weekly Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's soccer team had of pair of players honored by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) on Monday morning. 

Senior James Gleason and freshman Frank Williams were named NECC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The duo helped the Mariners (2-0-1 overall) to an undefeated start to the season last week. Mitchell won games against CCNY and Anna Maria College and played to a draw against Emmanuel College.

Gleason netted a pair of game-winning goals and finished with three tallies and one assist for the week. He scored two goals and added a helper in the 6-2 win over CCNY, and his second-half goal against Anna Maria was the difference in a 1-0 final. He earned POW status for the first time in his career.

Williams recorded two goals and an assist over the first three games of his collegiate career. He finished with a goal and an assist in his debut against CCNY and scored Mitchell's only goal in a 1-1 stalemate against Emmanuel. He has started every game and currently ranks second on the team in scoring.

Mitchell returns to action at Coast Guard on Wednesday, September 14 at 4 p.m.
