More news about: Nichols men's team

DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 15) – Nichols junior Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn.) scored a pair of goals by the 23rd minute to lead men's soccer to a 4-1 victory over Becker on Wednesday afternoon. The win puts Nichols at 3-1-1, while the Hawks slip to 1-3-1 on the season.

First-year Michael Perry (Plainville, Mass.) setup Coderre to take the shot from the top of the 18-yard box for the early 1-0 edge at 14:59. In the 23rd minute senior Danny Smith (Verona, N.J.) repelled an indirect penalty kick and sent the ball down the field where Coderre knocked the ball home from almost the same spot. With just over seven minutes remaining in the opening half, sophomore Pat Gaumond (Holden, Mass.) booted the ball from the 8-yard box off a feed from Andrew Conklin for the 3-1 edge.

Becker sliced into the Bison lead when sophomore Brian Paquette (Feeding Hills, Mass.) sent a pass to classmate Aldo Karkanjozi (Sterling Heights, Mich.) to put the visitors on the scoreboard at 65:58. Rookie Casey Doig (Spofford, N.H.) netted an insurance goal in the 76th minute for the final score of the game. Junior Anthony Scotti (Bristol, Conn.) helped setup the shot by Doig.

Nichols senior goalkeeper Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) did not have to make a save in almost 60 minutes in net, while George Quireyns faced one shot in relief.

Sophomore Tim McDonald (Holden, Mass.) racked up 10 saves for Becker and was a mainstay in the Hawks net.

The Bison outshot the Hawks 24-5 on the day, while holding a 10-3 advantage on corner kicks.

Nichols jumps back into CCC play on Saturday with a trip to Bristol, R.I. for a 3:30 p.m. showdown at Roger Williams. Becker ventures to Green Mountain on Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. tilt.
