Justin Wolfe Named USA South Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport University senior goalkeeper Justin Wolfe (Williamsburg, Va.) was tabbed as this week's USA South Defensive Player of the Week, after allowing just one goal in 200 minutes of action this weekend. Wolfe made seven saves and preserved his second shutout of the season in a 4-0 rout of Vassar College, improving to 5-0-1 this season.

The Captains ventured north on a long road trip to New York this week, for their first major road trip of the year. CNU faced Oneonta State on Friday afternoon, and then Vassar College on Sunday. Wolfe was between the pipes, as he has been all season, for the full 200 minutes of game action, allowing just one goal.

Wolfe made three saves against the Red Dragons in a double overtime draw, as the top-ranked Captains held on for the 1-1 tie. Then, against Vassar, Wolfe stopped four shots on goal for his second clean sheet. He lowered his goals against average for the season to 0.95.

CNU stays out on the road for their next game, as they will travel to #20 Salisbury University on Wednesday at 4:00 pm. The Captains will then open USA South play on Saturday with a game against 2010 regular season champions N.C. Wesleyan. Stay tuned to cnusports.com for more!
