Misericordia Stymies Scranton In Men's Soccer Action
Misericordia University used a strong opening period to power past The University of Scranton, 5-0, in men's soccer action at Fitzpatrick Field on Tuesday evening.
The Cougars tallied four goals in the first half, and junior forward Andy Bush (Dubois, Pa./Dubois) had a hand in each of them. He scored twice and assisted on the other two goals by sophomore midfielder Nick Ferguson (Milton, Pa./Milton). Bush also assisted on the Cougars' final goal, a score by freshman defender Derek Welsh (Medford, N.J./Shawnee).
Junior midfielder Kevin Romanauskas (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area) had a solid game for the Royals, putting some first-half pressure on the Misericordia defense while also helping the Scranton backline against the speedy Cougars' offense.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Scranton.
The Royals return to action Saturday when they open Landmark Conference play against Goucher College in Towson, Md. at 1 p.m.
