Hunter College Releases 2011 Men's Soccer Schedule
NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter College Hawks men's soccer team has released their schedule for the 2011 season.
For the second season in a row, the defending CUNY Athletic Conference Champions will head to Newburgh, NY to face Mount Saint Mary College in the season opener for both teams. The Hawks were victorious in last season's matchup, defeating the Knights 1-0 for the first of ten victories on their way to a NCAA Division III Soccer Championship Tournament berth.
Hunter will then travel to the Utica College Invitational Tournament on September 3rd and 4th, followed by an appearance at the Cialella Soccer Classic hosted by Rutgers - Camden on September 10th and 11th. The Hawks then head to Long Island where they will face SUNY College at Old Westbury on September 18th. Hunter then begins their defense of their CUNYAC Championship by facing the City College of New York on September 21st.
Upon completion of their seven-match road swing to start the season, the Hawks head to Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers for their home opener on Saturday, September 24th against Medgar Evers College at Noon. Two days later they face non-conference power NYU, to conclude play against non-conference opponents in the regular season.
A trip to York College on September 28th starts a six-match CUNYAC stretch to finish the regular season. Hunter heads to Randall's Island on October 1st to host Baruch at 5:00pm, followed by a match at Brookln College on October 5th. The Hawks will conclude the regular season schedule with three home matches - October 8th vs. John Jay College, October 12th vs. Lehman College, and October 15th vs. the College of Staten Island.
The quarterfinal round of the 2011 CUNYAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament begins Wednesday, October 26th at the home of the higher seed. This year's semifinal round will be played at the College of Staten Island, with the 2011 CUNYAC Championship Final being played on Field #10 at Randall's Island on Saturday, November 5th at 6:00pm.
Head Coach Jose Cedeno's returns 11 players from last year's squad, including six seniors.
