Allegheny Powers Past Wabash 5-1
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Allegheny men's soccer squad used an offensive explosion to capture their second conference victory of the season, traveling to Wabash College and defeating the Little Giants 5-1.
The Gators opened the scoring early, as junior Tyler Danzey would score his second goal of the season by putting away an Andrew Miller corner kick in the 13th minute to go up 1-0.
Allegheny would get another fortunate break less than four minutes later, when Wabash would contribute to the Gators cause, scoring an own goal to put themselves in a two goal deficit.
While Allegheny could have sat back with a two goal lead minutes before half, they decided that two just wasn't enough. With less than three minutes left in the first half, freshman Axel Monzon would net the first goal of his career off a feed from fellow freshman Cameron Olson to put the Gators up three going into the half.
The second half didn't start as well as the Gators had hoped, as they would return the favor that Wabash extended them in the first half, by scoring an own goal to get the Little Giants back into the contest.
Allegheny would get back in control just 10 minutes later, when in the 62nd minute sophomore Andrew Miller netted his fourth goal of the year, giving the Gators a 4-1 lead.
Not to be outdone, junior Chris Brennan would also score his fourth goal of the year, just 15 minutes after Miller, to put the finishing touches on the Little Giants as Allegheny would improve to 9-3-0 overall, and 2-1-0 in NCAC play.
Allegheny will be off until Wednesday, October 12 when they will travel to Wooster, Ohio to take on the Fighting Scots of Wooster at 4:00 pm.
