Westminster (Mo.) Men Earn 1-1 Double Overtime Draw

Fulton, Mo. – The Westminster College men's soccer squad went to overtime for the sixth time this season and came away with a 1-1 non-conference tie with Columbia College here Sunday evening. With the draw the Blue Jays stand 7-3-3 and are two overtime matches shy of the school record of eight set during the 2006 season.

Columbia (9-2-1) got on the board early on a Jovan Ilic goal off a corner kick. Despite being outshot 18-9, the Blue Jays never lost sight of the lead and tied the match on a header by senior Sean Peterson (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) off an assist from sophomore Andrew Lock (St. Charles, Mo./St. Dominic) at 79:24. Ironically, this was Peterson's second consecutive header goal in two days. Peterson, who leads Westminster with five goals, headed in the game-winner in Saturday's 1-0 conference win over Greenville College.
