Thomas More Defeats Geneva, 2-1; Moves Into Solo First Place in PAC
(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team moved into first place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) standings as it defeated Geneva College, 2-1, today (Saturday, October 15, 2011) in a PAC match at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 10-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 10-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the PAC.
Geneva took and early 1-0 lead when Jeb Nash scored off a cross from Teddy Krzywiecki at the 11:23 mark. The Saints tied the match at 1-1 when junior defender Jacob Waldrop (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) scored unassisted at the 20:33 mark. Thomas More took a 2-1 lead at the 30:22 mark when junior midfielder Andrew Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored off a cross from freshman midfielder/forward Jacob Plummer (North Olmsted, Ohio/Corpus Christy Academy).
Senior goalkeeper Zack Lawson (Frankfort, Ky./Frankfort) played all 90 minutes in goal and allowed one goal, while recording four saves.
Thomas More out-shot Geneva, 12-11, including 9-6 on-goal.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday (October 19) when they travel to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to play Saint Vincent College at 1:30 p.m.
