Westminster (Mo.), Fontbonne Remain Tied After 4-4 Draw
Fulton, Mo. - Tuesday evening on Westminster Field the top two teams in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer standings squared off and after 110 minutes nothing was decided as the result of a 4-4 draw between host Westminster College and visiting Fontbonne University.
Fontbonne grabbed the early lead, but the Blue Jays (8-3-4, 4-0-1 SLIAC) tied the score on a goal by senior Sean Peterson (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette). Fontbonne (9-4-2, 4-0-1 SLIAC) regained the lead, but again the Blue Jays got the equalizer on a goal by junior Graham Lloyd (Columbia, Mo./Hickman). Sophomore Andrew Presnell (Ozark, Mo./Ozark) put Westminster up 3-2. However, Fontbonne scored a pair of goals to go to intermission with a 4-3 lead. Sophomore Ronald Moore (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic) knotted the match 4-4 with a goal at 80:13, and the two teams went scoreless through two overtime periods.
Record Watch: The last time the Blue Jays were 4-0-1 in league play after five matches was in 2004…Tuesday's was the seventh overtime match this season, one shy of the school record.
