Blue Jay Men Win In OT, Still Undefeated In League

Fulton, Mo. – Late Saturday evening the Westminster College men's soccer team went to overtime for a single-season team record tying eighth time. But, most importantly, the Blue Jays prevailed 3-2 over MacMurray College to remain undefeated in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with two league matches remaining in the regular season.

Westminster (9-3-4, 5-0-1 SLIAC) fell behind in the first half. However, senior Sean Peterson (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) recorded his team-high seventh goal on a penalty kick to tie the score. Sophomore Ronald Moore (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic) scored to put the Blue Jays on top 2-1 just before intermission. MacMurray (6-11, 1-5 SLIAC) got the equalizer in the 72nd minute, setting the stage for Moore, who scored his second goal of the match and the game-winner 5:37 into overtime.

Record Watch: Saturday's overtime match was the eighth of the season, tying the school record set in 2006…The Blue Jays played their ninth one-goal match, two shy of the record of 11 one-goal matches set in 1999…Westminster is 7-2 in one-goal matches this season.
