Westminster Men's Soccer Season Ends In SLIAC Semifinal

Fulton, Mo. – The top-seeded Westminster College men's soccer squad saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 home loss to fourth-seeded Webster University in the semifinal round of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday evening.

The Blue Jays (11-4-4), who went undefeated in winning the league title with a 7-0-1 record, fell behind 1-0 in the 34th minute. Westminster had a goal nullified in the second half and freshman goalie Caleb Marquis (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) recorded a save on a penalty kick to keep the Blue Jays within striking distance, but Webster (8-8-2) withstood a late Westminster rally to advance to Saturday's tournament championship against the winner of the Greenville College/Fontbonne University semifinal.

Record Watch: Westminster won its second league title in program history this season…the Blue Jays set a single-season record with four draws…they tied the season record for one-goal matches (11) and tied the season record for overtime matches (8).
