Devils Blank Skidmore 4-0 in First Round of Devil Classic
(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's soccer team improved to 2-0-2 on the season, turning back Skidmore College, 4-0, on the turf of Biddle Field.
Junior Shepherd Waldenberger (Madison, Va./Madison County) put the Devils on the board, scoring off an assist from sophomore Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School) in the seventh minute.
The Devils would add three after the break. Chris Schultz (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and Daniel Gaj (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) tallied unassisted goals in the 54th and 72nd minute.
Junior Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, Pa./Timber Creek Regional) closed out the scoring, finishing on an assist from classmate Sung Woo Kim (Seoul, Korea/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) with just over eight minutes remaining.
Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made four saves in goal while Reed Milbrath (Dickerson, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) made one stop in the final nine minutes to preserve the shutout.
The Red Devils will face Stevenson University in the second round on Sunday at 3:30 pm. The Mustangs posted a 1-0 win over Arcadia on Friday. Arcadia will take on Skidmore College at 1:30 pm.
