Thomas More Ties Transylvania, 1-1, For Third Straight Tie
(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team tied intra-state rival Transylvania University, 1-1, today (Saturday, September 8, 2012) in double overtime at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the tie, the Saints remain unbeaten at 1-0-3 and the Pioneers remain unbeaten at 2-0-1.
Thomas More took a 1-0 advantage at the 17:31 mark when senior midfielder Andrew Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored off a deflection.
The Pioneers tied the match at 1-1 when Kyle Smith scored on a Kyle Newman cross at the 33.26 mark.
Neither team would find the back of the net over the final 76:34 as the match ended in a draw.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) played all 110 minute in goal and allowed one goal, while recording three saves.
Transylvania out-shot the Saints, 11-7, and won the battle of corner kicks, 7-6.
Thomas More returns to action on Tuesday (September 11) when it hosts Ohio Mid-Western University at 4 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field.
