Brooklyn Men's Soccer Falls in Opening Game of Valiant Classic
Purchase, NY --- Senior Padraic Farrell and junior Adam Berish each scored second-half goals leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past Brooklyn College (1-2), 2-0, in the opening game of the 2012 Valiant Classic held at Manhattanville College on Saturday evening.
The game was delayed more than two hours as storms passed thru the area. After a scoreless first half and start to the second half, DeSales (2-1-1) finally broke thru in the 60th minute.
Farrell scored first, connecting on a free kick into the right corner of the goalmouth. Just 30 seconds later, Berish cashed in the insurance goal, knocking in a cross from freshman Stevie Castellani at the 59:38 mark to make it a two-goal game.
Sophomore Damien Romaine made the only save necessary in recording his first career shutout in his first career start.
Brooklyn will go up against host Manhattanville Sunday at 3:30 pm.
