Men's Soccer Lose to #11 Montclair St., Next Play Fitchburg State Sunday at 11am
The men's soccer team suffered a season-opening 8-1 defeat to #11 pre-season ranked and 2011 Final Four participant Montclair State University in a first round match of the Roger Williams/Turfer Classic played on Saturday afternoon in Bristol, Rhode Island.
The Red Hawks from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes of play. The Bearcats eventually scored at the 32:26 mark as Oren Kozlowski nailed an 18-yard free kick that beat the goalkeeper for the 3-1 halftime result.
The Red Hawks added five more goals in the second half for the 8-1 final to advance to tomorrow's championship match at 1:30 pm against the hosts Roger Williams University (defeated Fitchburg State 5-0).
The Bearcats will next play Sunday morning at 11:00 am against Fitchburg State from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
